Valved holding chambers are commonly described as small or large volume (+700ml) according to the size of the holding chamber. The attached document contains key references supporting the use of small volume chambers in comparison to large volume chambers for the delivery of aerosol medication. Click here to view the pdf. As detailed in the attached document, the small volume (149ml) AeroChamber Plus* VHC provides equivalent medication delivery to the large volume chambers but has the additional advantage of being an ideal size for convenience and portability. The AeroChamber Plus* VHC can be used with all commonly prescribed pressurized metered dose inhalers and is supported by hundreds of publications. In addition, the AeroChamber Plus* VHC includes a full range of products designed specifically for each patient type. Healthcare providers should consider patient preference when recommending a VHC to patients. Numerous studies have shown that patients prefer small volume chambers to bulky large volume chambers for aerosol drug delivery.
