Manufacturing Assembler / Relief in Process and Finished Goods Inspector - Weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday 7:30am - 8:30pm)

As a key member of the Manufacturing Team, you will be working cooperatively with Manufacturing colleagues to assemble devices in a consistent, accurate, and timely manner.

Inspect and release incoming components, in-process product, and outgoing finished goods as part of a team. Participate in general problem-solving activities and process improvement initiatives.

ASSEMBLER RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

ASSEMBLY, DECORATION AND PACKAGING

  • Ensure that products are assembled safely, with high quality, and efficiently
  • Ensure established procedures are followed, e.g. Assembly Procedures

INSPECTION AND DOCUMENTATION

  • Ensure that required device inspections are completed
  • Ensure that documentation is completed accurately and in accordance with applicable standards, e.g. Good Documentation Practices

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Ability to use hands to grip, handle, and finger
  • Mid and minor range of motion of wrists and elbows
  • Neck flexion and rotation
  • Ability to reach mid height

QUALITY INSPECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

INSPECTION

  • Ensure to perform required incoming inspection with calibrated measurement equipment (e.g. vision systems, shadow graphs, height stands, callipers, etc.) according to measurement plans
  • Ensure to perform in-process inspections leading to the release of components and finished goods
  • Ensure to perform line clearance in co-operation with Manufacturing
  • Ensure all products are assembled following Assembly Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices, and in accordance with the Quality Policy Objectives

DOCUMENTATION

  • Ensure completion of the quality portion of device history records for approval and scan and archive approved device history records
  • Assist in the development of product prints and the development of programs, documents and instructions for checking the products
  • Participate in documentation and resolution of non-conformance reports (NCRs) and temporary deviations (TDs)
  • Ensure communication with suppliers on receiving documentation, e.g. missing Certificates of Compliance (CofCs)

HEALTH AND SAFETY

  • Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, including the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, etc.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work environment
  • Wear prescribed PPE, e.g. safety glasses, gloves, aprons
  • Report unsafe work conditions and / or hazards to Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma
  • 2 years of experience in a similar team environment is an asset
  • 2 years of experience in quality or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to manually, and with automated equipment operation, assemble, decorate, package and box small components and finished goods in a fast-paced environment
    • Mobility: ability to walk, stand, and sit
    • Upper Extremity Function: ability to reach low
    • Lower Extremity Function: ability to stoop/bend, twist
    • Strength: ability to lift to mid height (average < 10 pounds, maximum 26 pounds); ability to carry (maximum 26 pounds); ability to push up to 11 pounds; ability to pull up to 11 pounds
  • Good manual dexterity with the ability to assemble small parts in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work in a rotation
  • Ability to visually detect very small (i.e. ½ mm) non-conformances in shape, size, colour, etc., and functionality non-conformances in components or products
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and cooperatively in a close team environment
  • Knowledge of a quality system program is an asset
  • Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) is an asset
  • Basic math and computer skills are assets:
    • Basic experience in MS Word
    • Basic experience in MS Excel
    • Basic experience in MS Outlook
  • Ability to perform testing of products and record results
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), through experience or education (e.g. college level blueprint reading course)
  • Excellent organizational, analytical skills, especially in completing accurate and legible reports
  • Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent vision and attention to detail
  • General knowledge of statistical and quality tools
