Group Director, Global Marketing and Portfolio Management

As our Global Marketing and Portfolio Management leader you will manage our product portfolio to support annual growth targets for top line sales, margins, and market share, while positioning the portfolio for long term growth. You’ll work closely with our clinical team to develop evidence generation strategies and tactics to support our business growth objectives. And, you’ll oversee our marketing operations team in their innovative, timely, and relevant delivery of services such as creative services, digital and social media, and events coordination.



  • Customer and patient insights
    • Drive development of robust market and product insights and analysis in a timely manner
    • Gain insights by focusing on patient journey, care pathways, treatment channels, and customer needs
    • Lead customer segmentation, value proposition development, and targeting
    • Develop short and long term sales forecasts on an annual basis
    • Maintain good understanding of competitor products, strategies, and tactics to device and deploy winning strategies in the marketplace
  • Go-to-market strategies and execution
    • Develop annual global brand plans including value proposition, positioning, and messaging for core products
    • Lead creation of all promotional and educational materials for patients and key stakeholders (e.g. physicians, pharmacists, nurses, payers, policy makers, etc.)
    • Engage and support advocates and key opinion leaders (KOLs) globally and in priority markets
    • Identify and drive pricing and reimbursement opportunities in key markets
    • Develop and execute market adoption plans for new products to accelerate commercial success
    • Arm sales teams with material to accelerate commercialization
  • Develop lifecycle management plans including product enhancements, evidence generation, and cut-over plans for core products


  • Build balanced product portfolio
  • Develop criteria to support decision making regarding investment and development opportunities
  • Evaluate product pipeline and in-licensing opportunities using primary and secondary market research methods
  • Develop sales and profitability forecasts including sensitivity analyses
  • Identify areas to leverage portfolio


  • Lead Company-wide branding and advertising initiatives including digital and social media platforms that enable TMI to be a digitally savvy company
  • Ensure Marketing Operations (Creative Services, Congress Management, etc.) function is effective and efficient
  • Develop platforms/solutions to fully understand and improve Customer experience


  • Manage the development, motivation and retention of qualified staff who will assist TMI in achieving its goals
  • Actively participate in the recruitment of new staff members
  • Administer policies and procedures that ensure employees are treated fairly and equitably, have a sense of self-esteem and are encouraged to maximize their full potential
  • Manage the development and progress of employees by formally evaluating their performance, based upon mutually established objectives, once per year at a minimum and optimally, once per quarter
  • Ensure employees are trained in approved work procedures to obtain optimal output without accident and injuries and ensure that employees follow safe work methods and all related standards
  • Ensure a development plan is created and followed for each staff member
  • Coach, develop and mentor employees to succeed in achieving business and professional objectives


  • Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, including the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, etc.
  • Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures and legislation
  • Comply with regulatory requirements
  • Maintain current knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements for marketing
  • Solicit guidance from internal regulatory resources
  • Comply with applicable legislation (e.g. Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), Physician Payment Sunshine Act (Sunshine Act))


  • University degree in business or science
    • MBA preferred
  • Minimum fifteen years’ experience in sales and marketing roles within the medical device, pharmaceutical, or consumer brands market place
  • Five years of progressively responsible senior product and portfolio management experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical, or consumer products field
    • Includes experience in market research and product development
  • Experience with products in the respiratory therapy area
  • Medical or pharmaceutical sales experience is an asset
  • Business Development experience is an asset
  • Proven track record of building strong and differentiated global brands
  • Strong understanding of the product development process, new product launch plans and sales and marketing best practices
  • Strong understanding of clinical, social, and economic outcomes in core therapeutic areas
  • Solid understanding of international markets, regulatory environments, health systems, reimbursement, and business practices
  • Experience in pharmaceutical development and commercialization is an asset
  • Experience in portfolio management is an asset
  • Strong financial and analytical skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, including strong business writing skills
  • Experience building strong relationships with key healthcare professionals, e.g. physicians, pharmacists, respiratory therapist, and key opinion leaders
  • Computer literate with:
    • Advanced experience in Windows environment
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • High level of motivation
  • Ability to create and maintain effective and collaborative relationships within and outside the organization
  • Good ethical conduct
